“I definitely want to show how beautiful the marathon can be. I am the opponent of all those who find the marathon bad: the psychologists, the physiologists, the doubters. I make the marathon beautiful for myself and for others. That’s why I’m here.”


Uta Pippig, born in 1965 and is the first female long distance runner to win the Boston Marathon three consecutive times. Before that she won the Berlin Marathon three times and the New York City Marathon once. She Also won the  Leipzig Marathon twice.

She is also famous for winning Boston while having diarrhea and heavy menstrual bleeding with a time of 2:27:12
