TomTom the popular GPS company has announced that they plan to release a GPS equipped watch to track you performance in sports like running, cycling and swimming. Something already done by many other companies including Nike+ (which is powered by TomTom), Adidas micoach, Polar RC3, Suunto and the all time leader Garmin.
No innovation here but a good price-feature ration can make this a best seller between runners who just seem to multiply by the minute.
The GPS watch key features include:
- Slim design.
- Extra large display.
- One button control.
- Indoor and outdoor tracking. Useful feature for all the treadmill runners.
- Built in swim sensor.
- Vibration alert, something I miss from my Ambit.
- Syncs via dock to all platforms. Not sure how practical this will be after watching the preview video.
- Bluetooth smart technology to communicate with external device such as heart rate monitors.
I’d also like to know more on battery life and customisation options.
All sounds good on paper. Lets see how it performs on the road.
